My First Vibrator
I remember the very first vibrator I ever saw.
I must have been about 14 (so a very long time ago) when an adult shop opened in the small town where I grew up. I remember it being a huge scandal – its opening even made it onto the front page of the Sunday Times!
The couple who opened it were family friends and I supplied the gift shop they also owned with a variety of different craft objects I used to make. I had just made a delivery and was waiting for my Mum to fetch me when I managed to sneak a peek at the latest stock deliveries. And there it was!
Today I know it as a Lady Finger and believe it or not 40 years later – they are still on the market. I have no doubt that when most people think about vibrators they imagine one of two types: Lady Finger and what we affectionately call Softy.
Softie was the first vibrator I ever owned and we continue to stock it because I have such fond memories of owning it.
Softy is your common garden variety type vibrator. It looks like a penis (with great girth) except it is bright pink! It’s made out of Jelly, which these days is Phathalate free. Its battery operated and the speed is governed by a simple dial. Nothing fancy but my goodness does it get the job done.
It lasted for years. I eventually threw it out when I started Lola Montez and was introduced to a vast range of different vibrators.
Generally vibrators can be divided into 7 broad shapes
- Penis shaped – Dear Softy
- Rabbit Vibes – Roger the Rabbit is notable
- Bullets or Eggs – Ammunition Bullets or RemoteEggs
- Ergonomically designed – Layaspot
- Curved Tip – Tiger G Spot Vibrator
- U shaped – We Vibe
Vibes come in many different shapes, sizes, materials, battery operated, rechargeable, colours, etc.
Your choice is – well yours!
